Sights of Edinburgh

Looks like Google still remembers me!

Have spent the last 3 days enjoying the sights of Edinburgh, including The Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle and The Grass Markets. So much atmosphere and history. The old buildings are a must see and every angle of the castle is worthy of a photo.

Had a Scottish pie today: an Auld Jock Pie. This was a tasty beef pie with a pastry lid with bright orange melted cheese on top and finished off with a crusty layer of haggis and gravy on the side. Great stuff!

Had the best fish and chips ever at The Richerton (apparently this is where my parents went 'winching'!) too much information for sure.

We have fully sampled the fudge range and tablet. Our cousin even tried fudge on toast for breakfast!

Have re-traced some of the family roots including: the house I lived before moving to Australia at age eight, both my grandparents' houses, my great grandmother's house from the early 1900s, the grave of my grandparents and farms where my mum grew up.

Oban, Inverness and Pit Lochry:
Spent a wonderful 3 days travelling up North with family. Our favourite spot was Oban which is a beautiful fishing village on the west coast.

Had a lovely view of the mariner outside our window. Went to a special seafood restaurant. I enjoyed Scottish salmon and grey mullet with new potatoes. Great to eat the local produce. Other yummy dishes were baked haddock and sea bass.

After a queasy journey up the scenic route to Inverness we had a lovely dinner. Might post a few pictures of our fancy steaks, pork belly and desserts for the sweet tooths.

Saw lots of snow capped hills and beautiful scenery. Ate tablet there too and indulged on some Scottish cheeses, a lovely smokey one and a creamy blue. My uncle is still having nightmares about the blue (not his cup of tea at all). I don't think he'll let us forget the experience.
Enjoyed the cheese on Scottish oatcakes washed down with French and Chillian wines.
Found some fun tourist shops where Tony kept looking for just the right family tartan. This provided me with a great photo opportunity.
