Arrived in Lamezia, via Rome late this afternoon after rising at 6am. Nothing exciting to report on the gourmet front. Struggled to get anything to eat at all. Our hotel wasn't keen to allow us anything to eat before scheduled breakfast at 7.30. Finally allowed a croissant and coffee. Only cheap offerings available on plane: water and sweet or salty biscuits. The passengers screened behind the curtain were dining on gourmet delights, according to the wafting smells. Only had 15 mins to grab a bite to eat at Rome so enjoyed a quiche, with a variety of warm spots and refrigerated bits. Not sure that works for me as far as the safe heating rules for food go! Anyway, still standing!
Tomorrow we will be collected around 2pm for our first exciting food tour of Calabria and Tropea. Stay tuned for more information. Not sure if I'll have internet in the Polino Mountains for the next 4 days. We will see.
Thank you Google Gods for allowing me access in Italy. You are really getting the hang of this travel blog thing now. grazie.
