Back again!
I have no idea what I have done right to allow me access once again but I shall make the most of it.
To bring folk up to speed we landed in Paris early this afternoon. Like London something had to go awry: no transfer pick up. With a few language obstacles to overcome we waited just over an hour after sourcing some help for another driver to kindly take us to our hotel ( mind you, he wanted us to tell him where it was)! After close to one and a half hours we arrived to a beautiful district. This is definitely food heaven. Our hotel is nice, not as small as I imagined and they even speak English.
Our very limited French saw us sitting outside a lovely French street cafe eating a too large plate of French cheeses and preserved meats, washed down with the local wine. Across the road buskers played the accordion and acoustic guitar. Next to them was an amazing chocolatier and macaron establishment. We are smack bang in food Central.
We have already driven under the Arc de Triomphe courtesy of our transfer and appear to be about 5k from the Eiffel Tower (dinner tomorrow night). As of tomorrow we will be relying on the hop on and off buses to take us to the sights.
All of the instructions on my blog are now in French so adding photos may be a stretch too far.
Whilst we have left Scotland behind we are grateful for the special times we have shared with family. We have shared many family meals, had many laughs and created long lasting memories. We hope to return the favours back in Australia. It is now time to venture into new territory and explore the cultures of France and Italy. I am determined not to eat Italian food in France, no matter how tempting it may seem. I have already checked the menu boards for snails and frogs' legs. Anything is possible after haggis. With our limited French we keep joking that we will be eating lots of "plats du jour" and "soup de jour"
Stay tuned. Au revoir
For now, "au revoir"
